Free State police continue search for Facebook offender─── ZENANDE MPAME 15:25 Fri, 22 May 2026
Free State police have intensified their search for a man, 32, accused of using social media platforms to lure women before allegedly committing sexual offences and other serious crimes.
Provincial authorities have identified the suspect as Lloyd McDonald Siswe Jacobs. He is considered dangerous and remains the subject of an active investigation by the provincial serious and violent crime investigation unit.
Police said the case stems from an incident reported in Navalsig, Bloemfontein, on 11 May last year, when officers from Kopanong police station responded to a complaint involving a woman, 35, who had allegedly been sexually assaulted after meeting a man on Facebook.
“Following an intensive investigation, the Bloemfontein Magistrate’s Court has issued a formal warrant of arrest for Lloyd McDonald Siswe Jacobs,” said Free State police spokesperson Lt Col Thabo Covane.

“Investigations have revealed Jacobs actively uses Facebook and other social media platforms under various false identities to lure, drug, and attack unsuspecting women.
“Furthermore, he is concurrently wanted by the Parkweg police for a separate case involving conspiracy to commit murder after he allegedly threatened to kill the investigating officer.”
The suspect allegedly used the alias Shane Carson on social media to build contact with the victim before inviting her to his residence at Muirfield Flats in North End Street, Navalsig, under the pretence of a first date.
Upon arrival, the victim was allegedly offered juice, after which she became severely disoriented and physically weak. Police allege that she was then forced into a bathroom where she was raped.
Despite her condition, the victim managed to escape after convincing the suspect to allow her outside for fresh air, and she later reported the incident to authorities.
Detectives believe he may have used multiple fake identities across Facebook and other social media platforms to target and lure unsuspecting women, and that additional victims may exist.
Authorities have also issued urgent public safety guidance for anyone who may encounter a wanted suspect:
- Maintain a safe distance at all times: Never approach, confront, or attempt to apprehend a suspect.
- Observe and document key details if safe to do so: Note important identifying information, including physical appearance, exact location, and direction of movement.
- Contact police immediately: Phone Crime Stop on 08600 10111 for emergency police response.
Police appeal to anyone who may have been victimised or who has information regarding Jacobs’ whereabouts to contact Det. Sgt Richard Dlanga on 071 099 1466 or Col. Ben Bolsiek on 082 466 8530. All information will be treated confidentially.
