Eunice Girls’ School in Bloemfontein is not just a school with girls, but a school for girls.
Pulane Nel-Sekepe spoke to Kananelo Khoarane (Head Girl: School), Maggie Chen (Head Girl: Hostel) and Jackie Botma:

Strengthened by Sisterhood. Our 2026 theme encapsulates what the school stands for. Even though each learner is unique and comes from a different background or town, when they stand together as Girls in Green, they learn from each other, support each other and demonstrate excellence, growth and strength.
Did you know?
•The Eunice Girls’ School campus hosts Eunice Pre-Primary School, Eunice Primary School and Eunice High School.
•Eunice High School has five classes per grade, and they are named G.I.R.L.S. classes rather than A, B, C, D and E.
•Eunice, which means “happy victory” in Greek, was the name of Timothy’s mother in the Bible.
•Our motto, “Vincit Qui Se Vincit”, means “She conquers, who conquers herself.”
•Our founding ideals are rooted in Christianity and are inspired by Psalm 144:12: “That our daughters may be like cornerstones, polished after the similitude of a palace.”

Academics
Like any other school, our core business is academics. With our passionate educators, many of whom are also Matric exam markers, go the extra mile for each learner. Academic reinforcement classes are offered after school at no additional cost. With academic camps and support from educators and the hard work of our learners, every girl can indeed reach her academic goals.
This is clearly reflected in our 2025 Matric results.

Culture
Whether you are a future marimba or drumline player, an instrumentalist in the Ensemble, a public speaker or a debater, we offer it all!
Our renowned Vitae Cantamus Choir came second in the country in the Prestige section of the National ATKV-Applous competition in 2026. They won: “Best Performance of the Prescribed Work” and “Best Performance of an Afrikaans Composition”.
They also received three A++ awards at the Kunswedstryd and won the Huibre Verster Trophy for the Best Secondary School Girls’ Choir. In December, they will travel to Europe.
The Junior Choir received an A+ at the Kunswedstryd and won the Anelize Armer Trophy for the Best Secondary School Junior Choir at this year’s Kunswedstryd.
Sport
The Eunice campus has excellent sporting facilities, and we offer athletics, chess, cross country, hockey, netball, squash, swimming and tennis at school.
Several learners represent Eunice, the province and even the country at international level in a range of school and non-school sports, including hockey, pentathlon, karate, equestrian and even underwater hockey and dancing. This year, 7 Netball players represented the Free State and 35 Hockey players were selected to represent the Southern Free State in various teams.
Hostel
Eunice House offers top-class boarding facilities to our 150 boarders who come from various provinces in the country. We pride ourselves on the family feel at the hostel, where boarders can grow and flourish in a safe and caring environment.
The hostel offers an industrial laundromat, transport service, a computer room, piano room and spacious bathrooms for the ladies to get ready before school.
There are only two girls per room, as well as a beautiful dining hall where the girls enjoy delicious meals, shared with laughter and opportunities to nurture their Sisterhood every day.

Learner Support
Educating and supporting girls in their holistic development, while creating an optimal learning environment where each Eunice lady feels happy, healthy and safe, remain key to our success.
Through the Mentor-Mentee Programme, Grade Guardians and our three counsellors in the Learner Support Department, we ensure that each learner has a support network throughout her high school career.
The Learner Support Department is there to support our learners academically, socially and emotionally.

Service
Being at Eunice is a privilege, and through the Greenheart Service Committee, we encourage learners to become involved in the community and participate in various outreach initiatives which take place after school on a Friday. The Service Committee also actively participates in fundraising activities to assist communities in need.
English
With more than 20 different languages represented at Eunice, the girls learn from each other, teach each other, respect each other and support each other.
English-medium education plays a key role in preparing our learners for a confident transition into adulthood and life beyond school.
We believe that when a Grade 12 learner rings the Valedictory Bell at the end of her school career, she should be fully equipped and ready to spread her wings, embrace new opportunities and thrive in any environment beyond school.
Make sure you become part of our Eunice Sisterhood today!
