The Proteas spinner, Aaron Phangiso, is delighted to have been picked by the Bloem City Blazers, for the upcoming Global T20 League.

The Blazers have the West Indies all-rounder, Kieron Pollard, as their international marquee player, while the Cobras seamer, Dane Paterson, is the team’s premier bowler.

The Titans spinner, Shaun von Berg, was also selected by the squad and along with Phangiso the duo could form a formidable spin attack.

Werner Coetsee is the team's 3rd spin option, and the seasoned campaigner also brings great leadership to the team.

It is believed that the hard-hitting southpaw, David Miller, will be the team's captain for the tournament. This announcement is however expected in the coming weeks.

Phangiso told OFM Sport that he looks forward to playing alongside Von Berg for the first time.

“It’s a new experience and I really believe that it’s one of the best things that could have happened in South African cricket.

“I’m really chuffed and looking forward to it.

“Shaun is a really quality spinner. He is more of an attacking spinner than myself. I like to see myself as someone who controls the middle period.

“I think the two of us will make a good combination in the middle.”

Phil Simmons will be coaching the team, while Allan Donald is the bowling coach, it will, however, be the former Proteas spinner, Robin Peterson, who will have a big impact on Phangiso, Von Berg and Coetsee during the tournament.

The Global T20 League begins on 3 November, with the final on 16 December.

Bloem City Blazers squad – David Miller (captain), Kieron Pollard, Dane Paterson, Chris Jordan, Dwayne Smith, Shaun von Berg, Aaron Phangiso, Morné van Wyk, Beuran Hendricks, Theunis de Bruyn, Janneman Malan, Ryan ten Doeschate, Clyde Fortuin, Rayad Emrit, Werner Coetsee, Yasheen Vallie, Akhona Mnyaka, Keegan Petersen.
