The Protea Women's cricket team have secured a second consecutive short format series whitewash over Bangladesh following a 23 run victory in the 3rd and final T20 International on Sunday.

The victory took the home side to a 3-0, T20i series victory following a 32-run win in Bloemfontein on Saturday and a 17 run victory at the Diamond Oval in Kimberley last Thursday.

This convincing T20 series was preceded by 5-0 One Day International series whitewash over the visitors earlier in May.

Sunday's 3rd T20 was however shortened to 9 overs a side after Mother Nature delayed blay by some 2 hours on the day.

The visitors in their turn won the toss and elected to bowl first with the Proteas managing 64/4 in the 9 overs.

However with ball in hand, Hilton Moreeng's bowlers restricted the Tigers to 41/6 thanks to Ayabonga Khaka's  3 wickets for 10 runs supported by Marizanne Kapp who picked up 2 wickets for 8 runs.

Captain Dane van Niekerk said that a shortened match is always difficult to manage but believed their composure helped them over the line.

"I was a bit worried because in a 9 over game you really do not know what is going to happen, I just said to the players that we just have to stay calm."

"You can feel a bit flustered and everything happens very quickly but the bowlers had time to assess the wicket and again they showed up and that is the reason we got the win," van Niekerk said.

The women now ready themselves for a trip to England on the 3rd of next month for a three-match ODI series and a T20I triangular series that will also feature New Zealand.
