Proteas sweating over Big Vern ahead of the WC─── MORGAN PIEK 15:00 Fri, 21 Sep 2018
The Proteas are sweating over the availability of the all-rounder, Vernon Philander, ahead of next year’s ICC Cricket World Cup in England and Wales.
Philander is still recovering from an ankle injury and will not play in the One-Day International series against Zimbabwe, nor in the series against Australia.
Philander has not played ODI cricket since 2015, and there are fears that he will not have enough time to impress the selectors.
The Proteas face Zimbabwe next week Sunday in Kimberley in the first ODI, followed by the second in Bloemfontein on 3 October.
The third and final ODI will be played and Boland Park in Paarl, while the T20 Internationals will be contested at Buffalo Park and Senwes Park on 12 and 14 October.
The series in Australia will consist of three ODI's and a single T20 International in November.
