Proteas have no reason to panic─── MORGAN PIEK 17:26 Mon, 21 Jan 2019
The Proteas will want to set the record straight on Tuesday when they face Pakistan at SuperSport Park in the second One-Day International.
On Saturday, the visitors beat South Africa by five-wickets at St Georges Park to take the ascendancy in the series.
The Proteas were criticised for not pushing the run-rate more while batting first.
Hashim Amla, who scored a century, says that it’s far from panic stations yet. The positive of Amla’s return to form with the willow and the debutant, Rassie van der Dussen, falling just short of three figures far outweighs the negative of the defeat.
Amla added that they will be targeting a much better performance.
“It was just the first game, so I don’t think that it is too much of the back foot.
“We always say that you learn more from your losses than when you win. We don’t want to look too far ahead, because the next game is around the corner.
“We obviously want to deliver a much better performance and get a victory under the belt.”
Play in Centurion is scheduled to start at 13:00 on Tuesday afternoon.
