Knights worried about rain in Potchefstroom─── MORGAN PIEK 15:13 Mon, 01 Feb 2021
The VKB Knights have received a major boost ahead of their Momentum One-Day Cup semi-final against the Lions in Potchefstroom on Tuesday.
The seamers, Gerald Coetzee and Migael Pretorius, have both been declared fit and travelled with the team for the semi-final and possible final.
With the good news there is some bad in that the captain, Pite van Biljon, and Jacques Snyman are both unavailable as they fly out to Pakistan with Proteas T20 squad tomorrow.
Rain has also been predicted for Tuesday and this is something the Knights are worried about.
Coach Allan Donald told OFM Sport that the weather may indeed decide their fate.
“The forecast for tomorrow (Tuesday) is a shocker, but it can change.
“There are no extra days, no reserve days, so if it rains on Tuesday we are done. We will be out “because the Lions finished at the top of the log in Pool B.
“We will see, we’re hopeful and we are crossing our fingers.”
Should the match be a washout it will be the second season in a row that the Knights won’t get to contest the semi-finals. Last year the Knights reached the semis, but the match against the Dolphins did not get played due to domestic cricket being suspended because of the global Covid-19 pandemic.
Play at Senwes Park is scheduled to get underway at 10:00 on Tuesday morning.
