The Free State cricket coach, Allan Donald, is upbeat about his squad for the 2021/22 domestic season.

The Free State has managed to retain the bulk of the Knights cricketers, while there are new faces.

Donald said that having to release the seasoned spinner Shaun von Berg, was a very difficult decision to make.

He added that he is excited at the arrival of the new spinner, Gregory Mahlokwana, who can bowl with both arms.

Pat Botha is in there, Jacques Snyman is in there, Matthew Kleinveldt is in there and we've also got Gregory Mahlokwana.

He is a left-arm spinner, but he can also bowl off-spin. So, he can switch from left-arm to right-arm which a sensational skill to be able to have.

I haven't seen the guy play, but I am very excited to meet him and see what he has to offer us.

Mahlokwana has played the majority of his cricket for Northerns and the Titans, but he has also played in the Mzansi Super League for the Cape Town Blitz.

The Free State is set to begin with its preseason next month.
