Proteas seek to extend T20 record against Windies─── MORGAN PIEK 14:00 Fri, 25 Jun 2021
The Proteas will seek to improve their good record over the West Indies in the shortest format of the game, with the five-match T20 International series in Grenada starting on Saturday.
The Proteas and the reigning T20 world champions have met each other ten times to date in 20-over cricket.
As is stands South Africa leads the head-to-head battle with six wins to four.
The Proteas received a timely boast with the news that the influential captain, Temba Bavuma, has responded well to the treatment for his dislocated finger. He is expected to be ready to take up the captaincy after missing the Test series against West Indies.
It remains to be seen how this injury will impact his fielding which is normally of a very high standard.
This will series will also be the start of the Proteas preparations for the T20 World Cup in India or the United Arab Emirates later this year.
Saturday’s 1st T20 in St George’s gets underway at 20:00.
