Consistency key for the Proteas─── MORGAN PIEK 08:17 Tue, 13 Jul 2021
The Proteas all-rounder Andile Phehlukwayo has emphasised the importance of consistency ahead of the 2nd One-Day International against Ireland in Dublin on Tuesday.
The three-match series is all square after rain washed out the first ODI on Sunday at Malahide.
While the Proteas didn’t get to bat in the game, they will want to build on the momentum from their recent Test and T20 International series against the West Indies in the Caribbean.
Phehlukwayo said that they have to be clinical in their execution.
It's quite important to take these wins. I think every game is really important and we need to make sure that we are clinical in every performance.
Every point and every game counts, so we're got to be quite clinical and we've got to remind ourselves that we are building towards a bigger cause, and just continue those consistent performances.
The destructive and in-form batsman, Quinton de Kock and the seamer, Anrich Nortjé, are both set for a return after being rested for the first ODI.
Play at Malahide is scheduled to get underway at 11:45.
