WP and SWD into T20 Knockout play-offs─── MORGAN PIEK 08:08 Mon, 27 Sep 2021
Western Province and the Southern West Districts from Pool A are through to the knockout round of the CSA T20 Knockout in Kimberley.
On Sunday, Province beat the Northern Cape Heat with 10 balls to spare to progress to the next round, while this also meant that the Lions were eliminated by virtue of a slower net run rate.
SWD in their turn topped the pool thanks to a better run rate than Province.
The Province captain, Wayde Parnell, said that this weekend at the Diamond Oval was all about a team effort.
“In terms of the skill level, the guys do have the skill. It's just about believing that they can do it consistently.
“Zubayr has been boxed in as a red-ball cricketer. He has worked very hard at his white-ball game.
“All the guys have worked very hard behind the scenes.
Credit has to go to all 15 guys, even those guys that haven't played. It has been very hard to pick match “XI, so credit to everyone.”
Pool B will get underway on Tuesday morning when the Knights entertain the Titans at the Mangaung Oval. At 14:30 the Mpumalanga Rhinos face the KZN Tuskers.
