Knights secure bonus point win against the Tuskers─── MORGAN PIEK 14:06 Wed, 29 Sep 2021
The Itec Knights claimed their second win in Pool B of the CSA T20 Knockout being played in Bloemfontein and are one step closer to advancing to the knockout round.
The Knights beat the KZN Tuskers by 34 runs on Wednesday for back-to-back wins after beating the Titans by six wickets on Tuesday.
The Knights were sent into bat first, scoring 154/5 in their innings with Rilee Rossouw scoring 67 and Farhaan Behardien scoring 54 not out.
The Tuskers were bowled out for 120 in 19.4 overs, with Migael Pretorius returning figures of 3/32 in his four overs, Gregory Mahlokwana, Mbulelo Budaza and Nealan van Heerden each bagged two scalps.
While the Knights will be celebrating the win that was probably a little less clinical than the one against the Titans, they will be sweating over the fitness of Rossouw.
Rossouw sustained an injury during the game and at this stage it appears to be a ligament on the outside of his knee.
The hard-hitting former Proteas batsman is hopeful that he will recover before Thursday’s game.
The Knights captain, Pite van Biljon, hinted that Rossouw may be rested against the Mpumalanga Rhinos.
“We haven't given squad rotation much of a thought and we've just been taking it game-for-game.
“We will maybe give Rilee a bit of a rest because he has been carrying the batting line-up. So, maybe we will give that knee a bit of rest on Thursday.
“We've got a very good bench as well and I'm sure the people would like to see what Raynard van Tonder and boys can do.”
The Knights and Rhinos are scheduled to start play at 14:30 on Thursday afternoon.
