The opening batter smashed 77* runs off 42 deliveries, including nine fours and an incredible four sixes in an undefeated partnership with Keegan Petersen (37*) as they chased down the target set by their younger foes.

The Dolphins won the toss and elected to bowl first, applying the pressure on the SA U19s in the opening stages of the game, with Prenelan Subrayen 2/16) taking two of the three wickets to fall in the Powerplay.

Although Ethan Cunningham (28) contributed from the top of the order, the youngsters lost wickets at regular intervals, as skipper George van Heerden top-scored with a crucial 33-ball 35 (4 fours) after walking to the crease at 60/5.

That knock was the only positive in a lesson-filled innings for the SA U19s, with the Dolphins’ more experienced bowling attack taking control of proceedings.

Thando Ntini (2/29) and former SA U19s spinner, Odirile Modimokoane (2/12), bagged two scalps apiece as they helped dismiss their opponents for 114 all out.

The chase proved to be more straightforward for the Dolphins, with their opening pair, Roelofson and Petersen dispatching the ball to all parts of the ground, including a total of 17 boundaries, to surpass the SA U19s’ score with seven overs to spare.

Despite efforts from Aphiwe Mnyanda (0/17) and Liam Alder (0/15), the SA U19s went down by ten wickets to wrap up their maiden CSA Provincial T20 Knock Out Competition, while the Dolphins will return for the quarter-finals.
