Heat ready to start their 4-day campaign─── MORGAN PIEK 15:18 Wed, 03 Nov 2021
The Northern Cape Heat will get their 2021/22 first-class campaign underway on Friday when they welcome the KwaZulu-Natal Tuskers to Kimberley.
The CSA 4-Day Division 2 competition got underway last week already, but the Heat enjoyed a first round bye.
The Tuskers made an early statement and announced themselves a team to beat in the division by thumping the Eastern Stormers by an innings and 109 runs in Pietermaritzburg.
The Heat all-rounder, Evan Jones, told OFM Sport that they are ready for the challenge.
“The preparations are going really well. We are looking forward to the shift from three-day to four-day cricket.
“This is another big thing for the health of cricket in the country. Four-day cricket is going to be excellent for showcasing a lot of skills.
“We are also looking forward to playing in front of the local fans as well. The community has been excellent in helping us, supporting us, and being behind us.”
Play at the Diamond Oval is scheduled to get underway at 10:00 on Thursday morning.
