The Heat scored 333 runs in their first innings with Jonathan Vandiar scoring 85 and Rivaldo Moonsamy adding 83 to the total.

In response the Tuskers posted 322, with the captain, Michael Erlank scoring 55, Tshepang Dithole adding 54 and Tian Koekemoer contributing with 52.

At stumps on day three, the Heat were on 256/6 and lead the Tuskers by 267 runs.

The opening batter, Ernest Kemm, scored 121 runs to put the Heat in a strong position.

The Heat coach, Mark Charlton, told OFM Sport that they will target a win.

“We did well in session one and two. In session three we had had a little bit of a wobble at the end of the days play as we lost a couple of wickets and it did set us back a little.

“We have Vandiar at the crease and Victor Mahlangu is able to bat again, so we are hoping to bat well in the morning, set the Tuskers something to chase, and then hopefully bring back the victory.”

Play at the Diamond Oval is set to resume at 10:00 this morning.
