The Northern Cape Heat will tread lightly for the Eastern Cape Iinyathi in East London this week in Division 2 of the CSA 4-Day Series.

The Heat will travel to East London with a lot of confidence following their recent 253-run drubbing of the Eastern Storm in Kimberley.

A win for the Heat this week can move them to the top of the table in Division 2, while the home side will be desperate to move away from fifth.

In the game against the Storm, the captain Aubrey Swanepoel scored 134, Jonathan Vandiar had a knock of 132, while Evan Jones contributed with 128.

Heat coach, Mark Charlton, told OFM Sport the hosts are a dangerous team.

“We're happy with our form so far and we've played some pretty good cricket.

“Our game last week against the Eastern Storm, which we won, was really big for us in getting some momentum.

“The big thing is to take it day-for-day, session-for-session, and match-for-match. We are only halfway through our season at this present time.

“The Iinyathi in their home conditions in East London is going to be a really tough ask.  They are a real good team with some match-winners in the side.

“We just want to go down there and play some good cricket and give a good account of ourselves.

“Hopefully we will come out on the right side of it.”

This game at Buffalo Park in East London starts on Thursday.
