Proteas Women confident following series win─── MORGAN PIEK 09:10 Mon, 07 Feb 2022
The Proteas Women are confident and upbeat ahead of the upcoming ICC Cricket World Cup in New Zealand next month.
The Proteas enter the tournament on the back of an important series win against the West Indies after winning yesterday’s fourth and decisive One-Day International at the Wanderers by six wickets.
The most pleasing aspect for the Proteas is that they managed to win the series without the stalwarts, Lizelle Lee, Marizanne Kapp and Dané van Niekerk.
Captain, Suné Luus, who scored 47 runs yesterday said that her players have risen to the challenge.
“All the girls that got an opportunity raised their hands.
“Today were saw two of them bowl fantastically, while Andrie Steyn, who got an opportunity to bat at three and did really well.
“All of them stepped up and game the coach a good headache.
“When everybody just worries about and captains their own space, the results speak for themselves.”
South Africa's next game in on 2 March against Bangladesh in their World Cup opener in Dunedin.
