The Black Caps lead the series 1-0 after thumping the Proteas last week in the first Test.

The Proteas disappointed with their batting, bowling and field and following some time to self-reflect that are feeling better prepared for the Test.

Black Caps batter, Henry Nicholls, who scored a century last week feels that they still have the advantage.

“We probably saw in the second innings a shift from there guys wanting to play more positively, but I think on the flipside from our side as a bowling unit it brings you into the game as much.

“We do have the experience of playing on wickets like the Hagley and Basin Reserve quite often.

“From a batting point of view, we know that it's quite tough, but I guess when you have more experience you deal with it better, and I guess it's also the perks of having the home ground advantage.”

Play at the Hagley Oval gets underway at midnight.
