The Proteas Women suffered another setback ahead of their first game of the ICC Cricket World Cup in New Zealand.

This morning the Proteas lost by 6 wickets to England in their second and last warm-up game.

South Africa managed just 138/9 in the innings which was reduced to 35 overs.

The English managed to chase down the target with 52 balls to spare, with Tammy Beaumont scoring 35.

The Proteas coach, Hilton Moreeng, said there were positives to take from the game.

“As experienced as the bowling attack is, you still need to make sure as a batting unit you give them enough on the board to be able to defend.

“It also showed today that if you don't have enough substantial partnerships in the top-three you're going to end up having a game like we did today.

“We are very happy with what we've got and today we got a good indication of what could go wrong on a day like today.”

South Africa is currently ranked as the second best One-Day International team in the world and are considered to be one of the favourites to win the World Cup.

The Proteas face Bangladesh in Dunedin on Sunday in their opening game of the World Cup.
