The wind is a massive factor - Elgar─── MORGAN PIEK 14:24 Thu, 07 Apr 2022

The wind in Gqeberha could come into play during the 2nd Test between the Proteas and Bangladesh that gets underway on Friday.
South Africa leads the two-Test series after winning the 1st Test at Kingsmead earlier in the week and victory this week could move them to the summit of the World Test Championship standings.
Elgar warned that the wind in the Windy City affects both the bowlers and the batters.
“The wind is a massive factor here at St George's Park”, said South Africa’s leading run-scorer in the series.
“Since we've got here the wind hasn't stopped blowing. So, we kind of know what we might be experiencing for the next five days.
“If the wind comes over the scoreboard they call it the swing-wind and it might assist the bowlers.
“On the other side of the field next to the change room and the president’s suite, if the wind comes through that gap there it does tend to cause a lot of swirling wind in the stadium.
“We experienced a lot of wind today in our training session and we had a great reference of how it can play a massive role. Especially with the ball, if it goes up in the air and catches. Catching is already pretty tough at St George's Park, then you have the wind to add a bit of a different dynamic as well.
“The wind plays a massive role for the bowlers in their run-up - all depending on which direction it is bowling from.
“It is also a factor for the batters. Sometimes the wind tends to blow you a little bit over your front foot and it does maybe get you going across the ball a little bit.
“The wind is pretty much a big playing factor that we have to take into account when we are playing here.”
Play at St George’s Park is scheduled to get underway at 10:00 tomorrow morning.
