Cricket South Africa has named the Proteas Women's team that will be heading to the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, England.

There are no major surprises in the squad for quadrennial showpiece and all of the quadrennial players are currently in England.

Suné Luus will once again captain the side, with the regular skipper, Dané van Niekerk, still not fit and available.

Van Niekerk broke her ankle earlier in the year and this also led to her missing out on the World Cup.

With the recent retirement of the North West batter, Lizelle Lee, there also is a spot in the squad for the seasoned Mignon du Preez.

CSA confirmed that Van Niekerk hasn't recovered in time and that Luus will continue to lead the team.

"The squad will be led by all-rounder Suné Luus in the absence of the team captain, Dané van Niekerk, who was unsuccessful in her bid to recover in time for the Birmingham Games from an ankle fracture sustained earlier this year."

Luus led the Proteas at the World Cup and as well during their tour to Ireland and current tour in England.

The Commonwealth Games begins on 28 July.

Proteas squad - Anneke Bosch, Trisha Chetty, Nadine de Klerk, Lara Goodall, Sinalo Jafta, Marizanne Kapp, Ayabonga Khaka, Masabata Klaas, Sune Luus (captain), Nonkululeko Mlaba, Tumi Sekhukhune, Shabnim Ismail, Chloe Tryon, Mignon du Preez, Laura Wolvaardt.
