MI Cape Town has become the first franchise to confirm signings ahead of the inaugural CSA T20 League that will be played later in the year.

The Mother City-based team is owned by the Indian Premier League franchise, the Mumbai Indians, and they wasted no time in signing the teenage sensation, Dewald Brewis.

The team also signed the Proteas fast bowler, Kagiso Rabada, who is currently with the national side in England.

In addition, they have also signed the English duo of Sam Curran and Liam Livingstone, as well as the Afghanistan all-rounder, Rashid Khan.

“I'm excited as we begin our journey in building MI Cape Town,” said Akash Ambani, Chairman of Reliance Jio.

“With our direct player signings, we have taken the first step towards building the MI philosophy - having a strong core around which the team will be planned.

“I am glad to welcome Rashid, Kagiso, Liam, Sam, to the #OneFamily and happy to have Dewald continue with us on this new journey.

“We are certain that MI Cape Town, like the two other teams, will play the brand of cricket MI is synonymous with - playing fearless cricket, and the same will resonate with the passionate cricket fans of South Africa and across the world.”

The inaugural CSA T20 League is set to get underway in December.
