Unfortunately things haven’t gone our way - Jansen─── MORGAN PIEK 07:46 Mon, 12 Sep 2022
England are on the verge of winning the 3rd Test and series against South Africa. The English need just 33 runs today at the Oval to beat the Proteas and claim a two-one series win.
On Sunday the Proteas were bowled out for 169 runs in their 2nd innings with the captain Dean Elgar top-scoring with 36 runs.
Ben Stokes was the pick of the English bowlers with 3/39 in 13 overs.
When play was called due to bad light in Kensington the English were on 97/0 in their second innings.
Zak Crawley was unbeaten on 57, while Alex Lees was on 32*.
Proteas seamer, Marco Jansen, feels that while their backs are against the wall, they are growing.
“Everyone in the team works hard, is on the same track and working towards the same goal. We call it climbing the ladder.
“Everyone is working hard behind the scenes, putting in the hours, putting in the work. If someone thinks that they have to work on a certain area in their game, which is everyone, they go and they do it.
“They take the responsibility whether it is as a batter or bowler or in the gym with their fitness.
“Everyone can see the hard work that is going into it. It's just unfortunately the way it has panned out so far.”
Play in Kensington will resume on Monday at noon.
