Banyana had a dreadful series against Brazil recently and want to bounce back in their international friendly against the Matilda's.

The Banyana coach, Desiree Ellis, said she is happy with the way their first training session went, but they will need to make a step-up and cut out unforced errors.

“It's another top country so we need to be better in all departments, especially defensively,” said Ellis.

“We speak about minimising mistakes which must come to an end because that is really costing us. When we're on the ball, we need to be braver and trust ourselves. We need to be more clinical in front of goal.

“We need to trust our own abilities - sometimes on the pitch we don't trust each other but we are good enough to play against these teams.”

Banyana are using the match against the world’s 12th ranked team to prepare for the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand.

Saturday’s match at Kingsmeadow kicks off at 13:30.
