Cobb has been contracted by the Knights for the tournament and he will be filling in for Rilee Rossouw is in Australia for the ICC T20 World Cup with the Proteas.

An added advantage for the Knights is that Cobb has been in Potchefstroom with his county Northamptonshire before and knows the conditions and city.

Speaking to OFM Sport from Dubai, Cobb said he looks forward to his return to South Africa.

“I'm really looking forward to joining up with the Knights, said the big-hitting all-rounder.

“It's an exciting challenge and it's also a new challenge.

“I've played in South Africa before, but never at domestic level, so I'm looking forward to it.

“Luckily, I had a preseason last year in Potch with Northants, so I know the place quite well and excited to get going really.

“It looks like a young team and hopefully my captaincy experiences can add some value wherever I can.”

Cobb want named as the Welsh Fire captain during the recent The Hundred in England. This came after the England player, Jonny Bairstow, withdrew from the tournament.
