We will play to our strengths - Ngidi─── MORGAN PIEK 14:20 Wed, 26 Oct 2022
The Proteas will want to play to their strengths when they face Bangladesh in Sydney on Thursday in the ICC T20 World Cup
The match is a must-win game for South Africa after they shared points with Zimbabwe on Monday in Hobart.
Bangladesh in their turn lead the group following their win over the Netherlands.
The bad news for South Africa is that there is a bit of weather around in Sydney.
The Proteas seamer, Lungi Ngidi, said that they will be sticking to what works for them.
“We are playing towards our strengths,” said Ngidi, who took two wickets against Zimbabwe.
“We have seen from the games we’ve watched, the pace has been the most successful in this tournament. We are going with our strengths, which is pace, so in regards to Bangladesh, we’ll like to attack them with pace, which is our strength.
“I think it's about keeping it simple. There is pace and bounce in Australia. We have seen it in the first few games. In that sense - Test match mode and keeping it simple and waiting to see what the batters are going to do next.
“I don’t think anyone should be taken lightly. They did beat us at home. They outplayed us. It’s that simple. But tomorrow is a new game, and a new day, and we are definitely aware of what they did to us in the past.”
Thursday’s match at the Sydney Cricket Ground is scheduled to get under way at 5am.
