Sensational Brevis ready for high honours─── MORGAN PIEK 08:13 Tue, 01 Nov 2022
The teenage batting sensation, Dewald Brevis, has once again raised his hand for higher honours in the sport.
On Monday, the 19-year-old cricketer smashed a blistering 162 runs for the Titans in their CSA T20 Challenge game against the ITEC Knights in Potchefstroom.
Brevis broke the world record for the fastest-ever 150 in T20 cricket as the Titans beat the Knights by 41 runs.
Brevis also took two catches and a wicket to cap off his perfect game of cricket.
Brevis feels that he will answer the call if the national selectors come knocking, but he is in the right place, at the right time and he is there for a reason.
"I always believe, and even last year I believed that I was ready. I trust the people in charge and I believe that they will make the right decisions. Whenever the time comes, I will be ready.
"It's a very special day - a few things haven't really sunk in yet. I am so grateful for the talent that God gave me.
"It's really special and really lovely to be able to live my life to the fullest by playing cricket.
"This is the next stepping stone. I believe that the people in control know the best. Everything works out as it should. This is where I have to be. I have to do this.
"This is part of my journey. I am in the right place at the right time. We never know what will happen."
The game at the JB Marks Oval was also the first-ever T20 match to see more than 500 runs scored.
