The Northern Cape Heat batter, Rivaldo Moonsamy, is delighted with his start to the season with the bat in Division 2 of the CSA 4-Day series.

This past week, during their 4-Day game against the Eastern Cape Iinyathi, Moonsamy fell just two runs short of what would have been back-to-back 150s in first-class cricket.

Moonsamy struck 154 runs against the Mpumalanga Rhinos, while last week he scored 148 runs against the Iinyathi.

With 323 runs in just three innings, Moonsamy is the leading run-scorer in the competition thus far.

Moonsamy’s contribution with the bat has seen the Division 2 champions secure three consecutive wins in the competition.

The Heat beat the Limpopo Impalas by an innings and 275 runs in Kimberley, the Mpumalanga Rhinos by an innings and 155 runs in White River, and at the Diamond Oval on the weekend, they claimed an innings and 108-run win against the Eastern Cape Iinyathi.

Moonsamy told OFM Sport that he has been in good form with the willow for two seasons, but he has worked hard on converting his starts into big scores.

"I've been batting well for the past two seasons now, said the new face in the Heat set up. Last season I got a few eighties but I didn't kick on to get those big hundreds.

"I've worked quite hard in the off-season to try and put in the performances I'm putting in now... which is very satisfying.

"Back-to-back hundreds is always a good feeling, but most importantly, the team is in such a great space at the moment."

This week, the Heat will travel to Pietermaritzburg to face the Tuskers. The Heat comfortably top the standings with 74.36 points following three games, while the Tuskers are third on 32.44 points after two games. Going according to the log, the Tuskers will be the Heat's biggest challenge to date this season.
