Coetzee played his first senior game for South Africa over the last four days against the Cricket Australia XI, and he made an immediate impression by taking a hat-trick.

Langeveldt, who admitted that he doesn't know too much about Coetzee, said the 22-year-old brings exciting energy to the field.

"I am very excited about Gerald," Langeveldt said.

"He looks like he has got proper white-line fever when he walks onto the field. I had only seen him bowl in the nets and a few games on TV. To see him bowl live with such aggression and pace was exciting.

"He's a 22-year-old, and another guy can step up and bowl 140 km/h plus, and one or two balls were 150."

It remains to be seen if the Free Stater will crack the nod for the 1st Test between Australia and South Africa in Brisbane.

Australia and the Proteas will lock horns starting Saturday in the 1st Test at the Gabba, and play is scheduled to get underway at 02:20.
