Pretoria Capitals extend their lead at the top of the SA20 table─── KAYLA BARKER 17:23 Sat, 21 Jan 2023
On Friday, the 20th of January, the Pretoria Capitals took on Durban’s Super Giants in Match 15 of the SA20 tournament. The Pretoria Capitals won by 8 wickets with 74 balls to spare, extending their lead at the top of the log with 18 points.
Victory over the 5th placed Super Giants has highlighted their status as the tournament front-runners and secures their 4th victory out of 5 matches as well as a 6 point lead on the log. The Capital’s bowlers dismissed Durban’s Super Giants for 80 in just 18.1 overs in what is the lowest in the tournament to date while managing to later surpass their target in just 7.4 overs, securing a final score of 84/2 in 7.4 overs.
Durban’s Super Giants’ Heinrich Klaasen, who is currently the tournament's leading run-scorer, scored 31 off just 24 balls but it wasn’t enough to keep the Super Giants in the running.
Pretoria Capitals’ bowler, Senuran Muthusamy, secured the Man-of-the-Match title with stellar figures of 3/12 from his four overs, bowling out Jason Holder, Christiaan Jonker and Dwaine Pretorious.
As the Capital’s took to the bat, all rounder Will Jacks scored a brilliant half-century, leading the Capital’s to their victory yesterday afternoon. He secured 56 runs off 25 balls, which included five fours and four sixes. He was then removed in the seventh over by Keshav Maharaj, but his performance already laid out a solid foundation for the team's victory.
The SA20 action continues today with the Paarl Royals against MI Cape Town and Sunrisers Eastern Cape up against the Joburg Super Kings.
