'We need to win these games three out of three' - Miller─── MORGAN PIEK 08:16 Tue, 24 Jan 2023
The destructive Proteas batter, David Miller, has highlighted the importance of the three-match One-Day International series against England that gets underway in Bloemfontein on Friday.
The first two ODI’s will be played in Bloemfontein, with the third and final match set to take place in Kimberley next week.
The goal for the Proteas is to qualify for the 2023 ICC Cricket World Cup in India, and Miller said each player has to play his part.
"It’s obviously do-or-die in terms of qualifying. We are going to give everything that we have to not go to the qualifiers," said the former Knights batter.
"We need to win these games three out of three and that will put us in good stead to qualify for the World Cup.
"The energy and pride that we have to go to a World Cup is always special, so to miss out on a World Cup wouldn’t be great at all.
"I’m looking forward to a couple of big performances in the next couple of weeks. A real big shift, and hopefully that goes a long way toward qualifying for the World Cup."
The majority of the English cricketers are already in Bloemfontein and they held a closed training session on Monday. The rest, such as seamer Jofra Archer, still played in the SA20 on Monday night and will be reporting in Bloemfontein during the course of the week.
The Proteas will be arriving in three batches and by Thursday they will conduct a full training session under the guidance of the interim coach, Shukri Conrad.
