On Monday the Proteas announced their squads for the T20 International and One-Day International series against Australia.

Dewald Brevis, Matthew Breetzke and Donovan Ferreira all earned maiden call-ups to the senior national team, while Gerald Coetzee is in the T20 squad for the first time.

Coetzee, who moved from the Knights to the Titans during the winter, made his Test and ODI debut against the West Indies earlier in the year.

The World Cup squad will be named on 5 September and Walter said the youngsters have an opportunity to impress.

“There is obviously a bit of water to pass under the bridge before that final squad gets announced,” said Walter.

“We did want our last camp as well as the T20 International series to roll out before we finalise that squad.

“Anything can happen in that time, but 95 percent of it is pretty much tried-and-tested and then potentially an opportunity for a bit of younger flair in there.”

The 1st T20 International will be played on 30 August at Kingsmead in Durban.

The first two ODI’s will be played in Bloemfontein on 7 and 9 September, with the 3rd game being played in Potchefstroom on the 12th.
