“’Ness’ is an experienced all-format cricketer who will provide us with an extra fast bowling option should that be required for the remainder of the tour,”

The Dolphins allrounder Andile Phehlukwayo has been added to the squad ahead of the second One-Day International against Australia in Bloemfontein.

He has been brought into the squad as cover for Sisanda Magala, who is recovering from an acute knee injury.

Magala has made positive progress in his recovery and will continue his build-up towards contention for selection during this series.

Meanwhile, experienced Queenslander Michael Neser has been added to the Australian squad for the ODI series on the tour of South Africa.

South African-born Neser has been capped twice previously in ODI’s for Australia and will join the team in Potchefstroom ahead of the third fixture of the 5-match series, giving the Australian squad an extra fast bowling option for the remaining games.

“’Ness’ is an experienced all-format cricketer who will provide us with an extra fast bowling option should that be required for the remainder of the tour,” Australian Selector Tony Dodemaide said.

Emerging speedster Spencer Johnson has sustained a minor hamstring strain and will be managed conservatively through a recovery and rehab program. He will remain in Sth Africa and travel on with the squad to India as originally planned.

The Proteas and Australia go head-to-head on Saturday, 9 September, in the 2nd ODI at the Mangaung Oval in Bloemfontein.
