“We're very keen on critiquing our performance, especially when we win. Not only when we lose, which is obviously common. We're really searching for our formula and what happens consistently, what are the trends when Pakistan wins games of cricket.”

The 2023 ICC Cricket World Cup will see its first double-header on Tuesday with matches being played in Dharamsala as well as in Hyderabad.

The defending champions, England will be facing the Tigers of Bangladesh in Dharamsala and they will be targeting a first win following their nine-wicket drubbing at the hands of New Zealand in the opening game.

The Tigers will look to back-up their good six-wicket win over Afghanistan on the weekend.

One major concern is the field condition and the English captain, Jos Buttler, said it is unacceptable to play a World Cup match in these conditions.

“It's poor in my own opinion,” said the wicketkeeper.

“I think any time you're sort of talking about being careful diving or sort of being careful when you're fielding, it sort of goes against everything you want to be as a team.

“You know you want to dive through our houses to save a run. So that's obviously not ideal, the way the surface is, the outfield. But we won't use it as an excuse, we'll adapt to it.

“But yeah, certainly if you feel like you're having to hold yourself back, it's not a place you want to be as a team or player, or in a World Cup match.”

Meanwhile, over in Hyderabad the world’s top-ranked One-Day International team, Pakistan, will be in action against Sri Lanka.

The Men in Green got their campaign off to a winning start on Friday by beating the Netherlands by 81-runs and they will look to continue building on that momentum.

Sri Lanka in turn will be desperate to bounce back from their heavy 102-run defeat to South Africa on Saturday in Delhi.

While Pakistan managed to win, there were moments that were a little worrying for the team, but the assistant coach, Grant Bradburn, stressed the importance of improving on what has been working.

“We're focusing on what's working, not so much what's not working,” said the former Black Caps player.

“We spoke earlier, we're becoming confident as a group and as a coaching staff.

“We're very keen on critiquing our performance, especially when we win. Not only when we lose, which is obviously common, but we're really searching for our formula and what happens consistently, what are the trends when Pakistan wins games of cricket.

“Those are the things that, the little battles if you like, that we identify, the process of winning rather than just looking at the game in its entirety.

“We certainly break the game down into the key aspects. But we're well aware that the first phase of our batting is not clicking as yet, which we think is a good thing, in a way, because we have full trust in all of the guys who are capable at batting within the Powerplay.

“They've done it before, over perhaps the last period between World Cups, the top three have scored the majority of our runs, which maybe is detrimental to other parts of our game.”

Play in Hyderabad is scheduled to get underway at 10:30.

Meanwhile, in the Indian camp there is still some concern over the health of Shubman Gill ahead of their game against Afghanistan on Wednesday.

The 2011 champions have opted not to risk the player and he will not be traveling with to Delhi for the game.

In Monday’s game in Hyderabad the Black Caps secured another big win by beating the Netherlands by 99-runs to make it two-from-two. New Zealand scored 322/7 in their allotted 50-overs and then proceeded two bowl the Dutch out for 223-runs with the spinner Mitchell Santner starring with the ball with 5/59 in 10-overs.
