The Blacks Caps continued to dominate on day three of the 1st Test against South Africa at the Bay Oval in Mount Maunganui.

At stumps, New Zealand, held a massive 528-run lead over the Proteas with six wickets still in the bank as they are not firm favourites to win and collect valuable World Test Championship points.

South Africa resumed their first innings on 80/4 on Tuesday, but just added a further 82-runs to their total.

The former Knights batter, Keegan Petersen, top-scored for South Africa with 45-runs, while David Bedingham scored 32 and Edward Moore contributed with 23.

The spinner Mitchell Santner piled the pressure on South Africa with 3/34 in 21 overs, while Matt Henry took 3/31 in 14 overs. Rachin Ravindra, who scored a career-best 240-runs in New Zealand's first innings, was also in on the action with 2/16 in 9.5 overs.

The Black Caps declined to enforce the follow-on and opted to bat again.

The captain, Kane Williamson, who scored 118-runs in the first innings, scored back-to-back centuries with a knock of 109-runs, while the South African-born Devon Conway score 29.

When stumps was called, the South African captain, Neil Brand, was once again the Proteas best bowler with 2/52 in 13 overs, while Dane Paterson and Ruan de Swardt each took a wicket as well.
