The playoffs of the 2024 SA20 series will get underway on Tuesday afternoon in Cape Town as the business end of the increasingly popular tournament has been reached.

In the Qualifier 1 game, the defending champions, the Sunrisers Eastern Cape will be up against the in-form and confident Durban Super Giants on Tuesday.

The winner of this game in the shadows of Table Mountain will go straight through to Saturday's final that will also be played in the Mother City.

The loser will get another crack in the Qualifier 2 game against the winner of Wednesday night's Eliminator game between the Paarl Royals and Joburg Super Kings. Both of these games will be contested at the Wanderers in Johannesburg.

The Sunrisers captain Aiden Markram said their goal is straight qualification into the final.

“It is a proud moment to be able to finish first on the log”, said the Proteas T20 International captain.

“We are a fantastic group of guys led by a fantastic group of management who have put in hard work.

“But in every sense, the competition only really starts now for us, these are the games that matter moving forward, but to finish first on the table is something to be proud of.

“The team will definitely be up for it the Qualifier – it’s a game to get straight to the final, and there isn’t a bigger incentive in cricket. There is no doubt the attitudes will be fantastic as they have been throughout the season.”

In the first round-robin match between these two teams, the Super Giants won by 35-runs at St George's Park, while the Sunrisers claimed the honours with a five wicket win at Kingsmead in the return fixture.

Play at Newlands is scheduled to get underway at 17:30.
