Day 2 of the fourth test between India and England belonged to the visitors with India’s tail hanging on to end the day’s play on 219/7.

England started the day 302-7, and after an hour or so were bowled out for 353, with Joe Root left unbeaten on 122.  Shoaib Bashir was the star with four wickets from a whopping 32-over spell, while Yashasvi Jaiswal top-scored for India again with 73.  He was finally dismissed by Bashir.

Captain Rohit Sharma was dismissed quickly for only 2 runs by James Anderson, with the youngster Bashir making easy work of getting rid of the next three batsman, Shubman Gill (for 38 runs), Rajat Patidar (for 17 runs) and Ravindra Jadeja (for 12 runs).

Spinner Tom Hartley got rid of the next two batsmen, Sarfaraz Khan (for 14 runs) and Ravichandran Ashwin (for 1 run).

From 177-7, India rallied to 219-7 thanks to an unbroken stand of 42 between Dhruv Jurel and Kuldeep Yadav, leaving the hosts 134 behind the 353 England were dismissed for on Saturday morning. The day ended with Dhruv Jerel not out on 30 and Kuldeep Yadav on 17 not out.

After the day’s play ended, Joe Root told the TNT Sports that they expect the wicket to get worse. England’s strategy will try to get the remaining Indian wickets early tomorrow morning to get them in a strong position.
