The Division 1 CSA T20 Challenge got underway on Friday night and there were wins for the Lions, the Warriors, Titans and Western Province.

The Division 1 CSA T20 Challenge got underway on Friday night and there were wins for the Lions, the Warriors, Titans and Western Province.

At the Wanderers in Johannesburg, the Lions claimed a 43-run against the Paarl Rocks. The Lions had a bat first and scored 223/5 in their 20 overs with Ryan Rickelton scoring 75, while Rassie van der Dussen was unbeaten on 42.

Janneman Malan scored 61-runs in the chase for the Rocks, but they were restricted to 180/7. The teenage sensation, Kwena Maphaka, took 3/22 in his 4 overs.

Over at St George's Park the Warriors beat the KZN Tuskers by 37-runs. The Warriors were bowled out for 125-runs in their innings with Jiveshan Pillay top-scoring with 29. Smangaliso Nhlebela was the pick of the Tuskers bowlers with 3/17 in his 4 overs, while Alindile Mhletywa took 3/19.

In the reply, the Tuskers were bundled out for just 88-runs in 16.4 overs. Cameron Shekleton's 29 was the only score of any meaning in their innings. The Proteas seamer, Marco Jansen, was sensational with his 4/19 in 3.4 overs.

At SuperSport Park, the Titans got their title defence off with a 13-run victory against the North West Dragons.

The Titans posted 169/7 in their 20 overs with Aiden Markram scoring 40-runs, while Rivaldo Moonsamy, scored 35. Migael Pretorius took 3/18 in his 4 overs.

The Protea, Raynard van Tonder, scored 48 off 33 in the run chase while Wihan Lubbe posted 26, as they were restricted to 156/8.

Meanwhile, at Kingsmead, Western Province, who played in the One-Day Cup and 4-Day series finals, beat the Dolphins by just 2-runs.

Jonathan Bird scored 40-runs as Province posted 148/8 in their 20 overs. The Dolphins were then restricted to 146/7 as they fell just short of the target.

On Sunday, the Dolphins will face the Warriors in Durban, while at the JB Marks Oval in Potchefstroom, the Dragons will be at home to the Lions. At Newlands, Province will be up against the Tuskers and the Rocks will host the Titans at Boland Park.
