“The targets they have been setting has been great and like you say they are giving us freedom to execute our plans with the ball and staying focused on what we want to do.”

The Proteas Women’s team are in action in Kimberley tomorrow when they face Sri Lanka in the second One-Day International.

The three-match series is deadlocked at the moment after the first match on Tuesday in East London was declared a no result because of rain.

On Tuesday the batter Tazmin Brits scored 116-runs to help the Proteas to 270/6 in their innings and this falls in the plan of being a little more aggressive with the bat.

This is something the bowlers are also benefitting from as it gives them a little more freedom and less pressure when they attempt to defend a score.

The Botshabelo-born seamer, Masabata Klaas, told OFM Sport that the batters have given them a lot license to express themselves with the ball.

“They are setting us good scores to bowl at, and I think we also do have a strong bowling unit,” said Klaas.

“We can defend any target we set our minds to and I have a lot of confidence in what we’ve been doing going forward.

“The targets they have been setting has been great and like you say they are giving us freedom to execute our plans with the ball and staying focused on what we want to do.”

Play at the Diamond Oval is scheduled to start on Saturday afternoon at 14:00. The third and final game will be played on Wednesday in Potchefstroom.
