“With his twin brother, Duan, in our changeroom already, he didn't have the best of seasons, and every cricketer has that season when things don't work out - with Marco coming next to him, I'm sure he will be excited to play with his brother.”

The North West Dragons are over the moon with the signing of the Proteas left-arm fast bowler, Marco Jansen.

The lanky seamer is being regarded as more of an allrounder these days because of his sound batting.

Jansen will be returning to his native Potchefstroom following stints at the Knights and the Warriors.

The 23-year-old will also reunite with his twin brother Duan who also enjoyed a stint at the Knights.

The Dragons coach, Craig Alexander, told OFM Sport that Jansen's experience will be invaluable and he will be a very positive influence on his brother who hasn’t quite yet reached the same level of his potential.

“A lot of the things that Marco will bring to the changeroom is very, very positive,” said the former Dolphins seamer.

“With his twin brother, Duan, in our changeroom already - and I know he didn't have the best of seasons, and every cricketer has that season when things don't work out - with Marco coming next to him, I'm sure he will be excited to play with his brother.

“I know that Duan will flourish next season.”

On Tuesday Marco Jansen was named in the Proteas squad for the 2024 ICC T20 Cricket World Cup that will be played in the West Indies and the USA.

In addition to signing Jansen, the Dragons have also signed another Protea in the form of Janneman Malan, as well as the opening batter, Matthew Kleinveldt.
