The Knights head coach, JP Triegaardt, has expressed his delight at securing the services of Proteas seamer Sisanda Magala from the Titans.

Magala, who has somewhat slipped off the national radar following his withdrawal from South Africa’s 2023 ICC Cricket World Cup squad due to a knee injury, brings a wealth of experience and firepower to the Knights’ bowling attack.

The 34-year-old has proven his match-winning abilities on the big stage, most notably when he was named Player of the Match in South Africa’s 27-run victory over England in the first ODI at the Mangaung Oval. He has also plied his trade internationally in franchise cricket, turning out for the Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League (IPL).

Speaking to OFM Sport, Triegaardt praised the signing and highlighted Magala’s value both on and off the field.

“I’m very happy and excited to have Magala on board. His name speaks for itself,” Triegaardt said.

“He’ll bring tremendous experience and real impact to our bowling unit. One thing I can say about Magala is that he’s a match-winner.

“As a coach, that’s what you aim for: to develop and work with players who can win games. If you have match-winners on your side, you’ll find yourself in strong positions more often than not.

“But he’ll bring a lot to the team, and we're really, really excited for him and to have him aboard. “We also wish him all the best.”

Magala last featured for the Proteas during their emphatic 111-run win over Australia at the JB Marks Oval in Potchefstroom in 2023.
