The former Bloemfontein golfer, Dean Burmester, has qualified for the second major of his professional career by securing his ticket to the 2019 US Open, which will be played at Pebble Beach, California, from 13-16 June.

Burmester, who turned 30 on Sunday, won the US Open Sectional Qualifying played at the Walton Heath Golf Club by four strokes.

On the back nine of his second round, Burmester carded six birdies, including five-in-a-row from the 12th to the 16th holes, to secure his second appearance at the year's third major.

The golfer, who attended Grey College, told OFM Sport the iconic Pebble Beach Golf Course is a definite bucket list course and he cannot wait to tee up in the Sunshine State next week.

"We are back in South Africa and just enjoying a bit of rest before heading off to the States.

"Last year at the Shinnecock Hills was amazing and I enjoyed playing in my first US Open there.

"Having said that, qualifying the way I did, I've got fairly high hopes as to what is in stall for me at Pebble Beach.

"It's obviously a bucket list course to play. The US Open at Pebble Beach is probably the one major you want to play in your career.

"So, I am really looking forward to going out there, seeing what the course is like, just going out there and enjoying myself."
