SAFA confirm that they will be naming the new man in charge of the national team, less than two months before they face Zimbabwe in their opening game of the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

The former Bafana Bafana striker, Benni McCarthy, still appears to be the favourite for the post.

In March, Molefi Ntseki was axed after the national team's failure to qualify for the Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon. This was the minimum mandate for Ntseki to achieve at the coach.

The governing body of the sport in South Africa received over 200 CVs from hopeful applicants.

Pitso Mosimane's name is still floating around, while Herve Renard of France, Carlos Queiroz of Portugal, and Hugo Broos of Belgium are the international contenders.
