In what was just his second PGA Tour event, and first of the regular tour, Higgo, carded 11-under-par for the tournament for a one stroke victory over six other players who shared second.

Speaking about his maiden win and third victory in this last five starts on both the European and PGA Tours, Higgo, said that he is proud of the way in which he managed to hang in there, despite not bringing his A game to the tee.

“I'm just proud of the way I hung in there.

“It was tough all the way from the start. Definitely didn't have my A game in terms of off the tee, but I like that sometimes.

“I like not having to play perfect golf. I enjoy scrambling and making a couple putts, which I did, which was awesome.”

Meanwhile, in what was his PGA Tour debut, Bloemfontein's Wilco Nienaber, finished in a share of 14th on 7-under-par.

Both players will tee it up this week at the 2021 US Open which will be played at Torrey Pines in San Diego.
