Rasmus Højgaard and Thomas Detry take the lead on Day 3 of the Nedbank Golf Challenge─── KAYLA BARKER 22:22 Sat, 12 Nov 2022
Day 3 of the Nedbank Golf Challenge ended on a high in addition to having caught up on day 2 earlier this morning. Rasmus Hojgaard and Thomas Detry came out on top sharing the lead at the Gary Player Country Club.
The second day of ‘Africa’s Major’ was suspended due to rain and set to resume today. The morning got off to an early start at 07:45 this morning to complete the second round with the third round set to follow thereafter.
Luke Donald and Ryan Fox were tied for the lead on eight under par through three holes of their second rounds before the day came to a halt. After 36 holes and the completion of round 2, Luke Donald remained in the lead sharing the top spot with Richard Bland.
The start of the third round saw both English golfers, Donald and Bland, fall behind to the Belgian Thomas Detry and the Danish Rasmus Hojgaard.
Detry concluded his third round to sign for a five-under-par 67. He said, "My game has been in great form for the last couple of months and I feel like everything is clicking again. I’m working on the right things, doing the right things with my coach.”
Hojgaard got off to a good start with a birdie at the second and an eagle putt from 14 feet at the ninth. He finished the round carding a third successive 69.
When asked about his consistency this season, Hojgaard stated; “I’m not sure. Maybe just a little bit of a different mindset. Trying not to get too far ahead of myself. If I can keep doing that, I usually play good golf, so that’s my focus.”
South Africa’s Branden Grace and Thriston Lawrence are currently tied for third with Christiaan Bezuidenhout following in fifth.
The fourth and final round of the Nedbank Golf Challenge is set to tee off tomorrow, the 13th of November.
