Want to have a last bit of fun before the year ends? Why not have an amazing race in your yard?

According to queen-of-theme-party-games.com, planning your amazing race is as easy as one, two, three…

Step 1, invite your friends and plan your teams:

Why not make your invitations a little special? Send your friends an invitation that matches the theme. Any fan of the Amazing Race will recognize the  black and yellow clue envelopes that are used on the Amazing Race. You are only one picture in the form of a word document away from your own! You can also make an invitation in the form of a map or a passport. Simply open Word, insert the picture of your choice, right click, go to “wrap text” and select the “behind text” option and start typing your invitation.

Selecting teams can be difficult. You don’t want to seem biased so why not leave it all to chance? Glow sticks are the solution. Let each of your guests select a colour glowstick without telling them why. Make sure that there is an equal amount of colour glowsticks. After every person has a glowstick, you get to announce that the colour glowstick you have, represents the team that you’re in.

Step 2, plan your pitstops and remember to include a player at each pitstop to present the teams with their clues. It shouldn’t be too difficult to get a volunteer. Every person has a friend who prefers not to compete but would still like to be part of all the action. That friend is the perfect person to ask to present the teams with their clues. Be sure to pair that friend up with someone so that no one has to work alone.

When it comes to planning clues and pit stops, that part is up to you because no one knows your Yard like you. Try to Riddle personal questions that only your friends might know about each other. You can mix this up along with light facts about current affairs. You can then direct them to the next clue by making a very subtle reference to a place in your yard.

Step 3, plan a post-race celebration that can lead into the countdown for the new year. Pop a bottle of champagne and stuff your face with some delicious cupcakes to celebrate victory, friendship and the year 2019.
