Child rapist and murderer, Mortimer Saunders, was handed two life sentences on Tuesday.
He was convicted of the 2017 rape and murder of three-year-old Courtney Pieters.
Last week Saunders made a last-ditch attempt to avoid spending the rest of his life in prison.
He apologised to the family of Pieters, hoping to sway the court into handing down a lenient sentence.
He maintains that he didn't plan to kill her.
