Inspiration
Hoërskool Bultfontein and Mosaic join hands to swim for a cause in act of kindness─── 09:00 Wed, 18 Feb 2026
For OFM’s 40th birthday, Yolanda Maartens from Mid-Morning Magic would like to celebrate 40 acts of kindness. Her birthday wish for OFM’s 40th birthday is to spread a little kindness.
Wanting to share kindness from Central South Africa, she heard about a charity organisation in Potchefstroom, Mosaic, and learners from a high school in Bultfontein wanting to do something kind for others. Carien Moller from Mosaic joins her to talk about their participation in the Freedom Swim at the end of February and explains how you can share in their act of kindness by donating towards this initiative.
Originally founded in Potchefstroom, Mosaic has grown into a national lifeline, serving vulnerable families across South Africa.
This February, five members of the Mosaic team are diving into the deep end to raise funds for orphaned and vulnerable children.

Their participation in the Freedom Swim isn’t just about the distance; it’s about providing:
- Safe, structured after-school care for children in need.
- Support for vulnerable families to stay together and thrive.
- Sustainable community development across the country.
Joined in kindness
Mosaic won’t be swimming alone. Five learners and five teachers from Hoërskool Bultfontein are stepping up to join them in the water.
These students and educators are swimming for themselves, specifically for classmates who are unable to afford school fees. They are determined to ensure that no learner’s future is limited by their financial circumstances.

It’s a beautiful reminder that “school spirit” is about making sure every student gets to stay in the classroom and reach their full potential.
How to help
The Freedom Swim takes place during the last week of February 2026, and these swimmers need your wind in their sails.

Note for Businesses: Mosaic is a Level 1 B-BBEE contributor. Your donation isn't just an act of kindness; it’s a smart way to support SED, ED, and Skills Development, and you’ll receive an Art 18A tax certificate.
What’s your story?
Kindness is contagious, but only if we share it. Yolanda is looking for more stories just like this one to celebrate OFM’s big 4-0.
Do you know a neighbor who goes the extra mile? A local business giving back? A student making a difference?
How have you gone the extra mile? We want to hear about it. Sharing these stories doesn’t just give credit where it’s due; it also inspires the next person to start their own “ripple effect”.
