Nostalgia on The Good Morning Breakfast this morning as we welcomed back a true pioneer of Central South African broadcasting, Albe Grobbelaar, to talk about his new book, ‘Historiese Almanak – Onthou Jy Nog?’
For over 40 years, Albe has been the voice behind the popular Historiese Almanak radio segments, which first hit the airwaves in 1982. Now, those beloved stories and newspaper columns have been curated into a single, beautifully bound collection.
From “Silver Screen” legends and sports tales to “War Stories” and “Pioneers,” the book is a treasure trove of South African heritage.
During his visit, Albe reminded us that “there is always a story behind the story”. He officially launched the book on 19 February 2026 at the National Afrikaanse Letterkundige Museum en Navorsingsentrum (NALN) in Bloemfontein.
