Management at Food Lover's market has launched an investigation following a video of a rat eating from a food display.
In the video, the rat is seen eating food covered with a plastic at the Diepkloof, Soweto branch. In a statement released on Sunday, Food Lovers Management said they have a health and safety inspectorate that does regular investigation.
“We view the matter in a serious light and have launched an investigation to establish the source of the rodent problem. In the meanwhile, we can say we have a health and safety inspectorate that does regular investigation and the last inspection took place in November,” the statement read.
Despite management's reassurance, social media has raised questions about hygiene standards at the store.
